MORE INFO Image-based deployment
The 70-620 exam does not cover deploying images of Windows Vista over the
network. Enterprise
deployment of Windows Vista client is covered by the 70-622 exam. If you are
interested in learn-
ing more about image-based deployment, consult the following article:

The first screen in the installation process, shown in Figure 1-4, asks
which language you want
to install, the time and currency format, and the keyboard layout you want
to use. These selec-
tions are important because trying to install an operating system in a
foreign language is a dif-
ficult skill to master! Keyboard layout is also important; even keyboards
from other English-
speaking countries might superficially seem to use the same layout as a U.S.
keyboard, but
some of the keys are in different positions. If you are installing Windows
Vista for someone
who needs access to multiple keyboard layouts, it is possible to add these
alternative layouts
once Windows Vista is installed. The user can then switch between them as
necessary.

The next step in the installation process is the Install Windows page.
Clicking the Install Now
button begins the installation. You also have the option of repairing your
computer. The repair
process will be covered in detail in Chapter 2, “Windows Vista Upgrades and
Migrations,” Les-
son 3, “Troubleshooting Installations and Upgrades.” If you click What To
Know Before
Installing Windows, you are reminded to:
■
Verify that your computer meets the minimum hardware requirements.
■
Have your installation media ready. At this point, of course, the media is
in the drive!
