Clicking the Reset List button in the Newsgroup Subscriptions dialog box instructs Windows

Mail to retrieve the entire list of newsgroups from the server. Clicking the New tab shows only

those newsgroups that have been added to the list since you last subscribed or unsubscribed

to newsgroups. New newsgroups are added every day, although any relevant new groups will

be returned when you perform a search. Each time you connect to a news server and it has new

newsgroups, you are asked if you want to view them. If you want to turn this option off, you

can do it in the General tab of the Windows Mail Optionsdialog box.

Downloading Articles

Some newsgroups receive hundreds of new messages each day. Rather than download the

content of all new newsgroup messages, Windows Mail downloads a limited number of mes-

sage headers when you open a newsgroup that you are subscribed to. When you open the

newsgroup message, Windows Mail retrieves the content of the message from the news server.

It is possible, using filters, to have Windows Mail automatically download messages that meet

criteria that you have selected when you open a newsgroup.
