Practice 1: Setting Up People Near Me
IIn this practice, you will set up People Near Me. Before any user on a
Windows Vista com-
puter can use People Near Me, it needs to be set up by a user with elevated

setup involves creating Windows Firewall exceptions. After you perform this
task, all other
users of the Windows Vista computer are able to sign in to People Near Me.
It is necessary to
be signed into People Near Me if you want to join a Windows Meeting Space
meeting.
1. Log on to Windows Vista with the Kim_Ackers account. This account was
configured in
Chapter 4, “Configuring and Troubleshooting Internet Access,” Lesson 1,
“Configuring
and Troubleshooting Parental Controls and Content Advisor.”
2. Click Start, and then click Control Panel. Ensure that the Control Panel
is set to Classic
View.
3. Click People Near Me.
4. In the Settings tab, change the name to Kim Ackers, and select the Make
My Picture
Available and Sign Me In Automatically When Windows Starts options.
