Suggested Practices
To help you successfully master the exam objectives presented in this
chapter, complete the
following tasks.
Identify Hardware Requirements
■
Practice 1: Evaluate existing hardware Evaluate five separate Windows XP
computers
owned by you, your organization, or your friends to determine whether they
would qual-
ify for the Windows Vista Premium Ready certification as outlined in Lesson
1, “Identi-
fying Hardware Requirements.”
■ Practice 2: Using the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor Install and run the
Windows
Vista Upgrade Advisor on three separate Windows XP computers owned by you,
the
organization you work for, or your friends. Use the advisor to determine
which edition
of Windows Vista would best suit each computer based on its current usage
profile.
Perform a Clean Installation
Because the practice in this section will take a significant amount of time,
only one is listed.
■
Practice: Wipe and Redo Perform a second installation of Windows Vista
Business. Do
this by deleting and then re-creating the partition and volume you created
when install-
ing Windows Vista Business in Lesson 2, “Installing Windows Vista.”
Install and Configure Windows Vista Drivers
■
Practice 1: Updating drivers using the Internet
Run Windows Update, and use the
optional updates to install any updated drivers.
■ Practice 2: Driver rollback Use the driver rollback feature to roll back
any driver that you
updated in Practice 1 to its initial state. After you have rebooted,
reinstall the driver by
right-clicking it in Device Manager and selecting Update.
