System Requirements

To complete the exercises in Part 1, your computer needs to meet the following mini-

mum system requirements:

Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition, with Service Pack 1 (180-day

evaluation edition of Windows Server 2003 with SP1 and R2, Enterprise Edition,

included on CD-ROM)

■

Minimum CPU: 133 MHz processor (733 MHz recommended)

■

Minimum RAM: 128 MB (256 MB recommended)

■

Disk space for setup: 1.5 GB to 2.0 GB

■

Disk space for installation of Windows Software Update Services (WSUS): 10 GB

■

Display monitor capable of 800 × 600 resolution or higher

■

CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive

■

Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device

To view the eBooks and other material that is included on the companion CD in Por-

table Document Format (PDF), you need to use Adobe Reader (www.adobe.com).

Note

Windows XP Professional is required for optional hands-on exercises only. It is not

included on the CD-ROM.

Uninstall Instructions

The time-limited release of Microsoft Windows Server 2003 with SP1 and R2, Enterprise

Edition, will expire 180 days after installation. If you decide to discontinue the use of

this software, you will need to reinstall your original operating system. You might need

to reformat your drive.
